So, I came across this article from telegraph.co.uk claiming that a survey was done by the Forum of Private Business (FPB). The survey concluded that of their business members and respondents, 52% of them felt that sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter were “Useless” or “not useful” for them.
I continue to see people discuss how social media is not useful to them here and there. After doing a little digging into most of these companies “social media use”, it is typically VERY clear why they are failing at social media.
You will fail and continue to fail with social media if you lack a strategy and have no idea what you are doing!
Just because social media is a free platform doesn’t mean that you should just jump on it. Just like ANY other marketing or PR section of your company, you MUST do your research and come up with a plan. If you do not know what you are doing and do not have the time, please hire someone who can teach you a thing or two.
How can you say something is useless when you don’t know how to use it? It is just like some of the older generation who STILL thinks that computers are useless. If you don’t understand it and don’t try to understand it, this does not make something useless.
Do you think social media is useless? Why are some businesses having so much trouble grasping it?
