This is great stuff, Marshall!
Thanks Michael!
Thanks, Marshall, for adding to our knowledge of how to produce great videos using little tips and tricks. Having started on my MacBook Pro (after 10 years of editing in Windows) I still haven’t learned how to do all the things I used to do… but I just learned two things that iMovie will let me do.
Thanks, friend – great job!

Charlie, you’ll enjoy iMovie. It does pretty much everything I normally need to have done when I’m doing regular videos. When I need more technical stuff done I used to use Final Cut Express but now use Adobe Premiere since I needed software that was available for PC and Mac so when I give tutorials I wont be avoiding most of the video editing population.
Let’s do a Skype chat soon! I’ve got some great ideas on a “Movie Star Entrepreneur” chat I’d like to do featuring you Charlie!

Marshall, if you don’t mind me asking, what type of camera are you using to shoot your video? Also, what compression are you set @ in iMovie?
@Glen03, I shoot with a Canon EOS 7D. It’s what’s called a DSLR. Also, in iMovie you can export directly to Youtube which is likely what I did with the video above. You can now also export directly to Facebook.
Otherwise I normally used “Export Movie” under the “Share” tab and exported it in whatever format was most convenient. For standard videos like above where I was shooting it for a quick tutorial I’d only export in 640X360.
For sales videos I generally use 960X540.
I rarely used 1080p settings since it takes awhile to export and even though it’s better quality, it takes longer to load and not everyone had high speed internet yet.
I haven’t used iMovie in roughly a year since I now use Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects for all of my videos. Even now though, I rarely export in 1080p.
Great stuff Marshall, I’ve always wondered how he does it ;)Do you know of any simple video editing software for Windows?
