By now you most likely have heard of the iPhone 4 and all of its great features. But have you really thought about what this means for the world of social interactions and social media?! The iPhone 4 is going to GREATLY change the world of Social Media and become a major competitor to other multi-media related products in the industry. As Gary Varynerchuk says to great products and services that come out… “this is a game changer”.
Here are the features of the iPhone 4 and how they will change social media.
Camera, Mic, and HD Video
The iPhone 4 comes with a 5-megapixel camera made for shooting high quality photos and filming in HD video. Although previous iphones came with camera and video, none had the high quality or HD this one has. Many people were hesitant on shooting pictures and video with their iphones because of the lack of quality, but that simply isn’t a problem anymore. We are going to see the amount of pictures and videos being uploaded from iPhones skyrocket when the iPhone 4 becomes wide spread.
You can now take a picture for business related events and upload it to Twitter and Facebook without worrying about it being fuzzy. But BEST of all, and the thing i’m most excited about is the HD video. Not only will you be able to film high quality videos to upload to YouTube or Facebook, but you will be able to shoot high quality/HD LIVE events on Ustream! Usteaming will surely increase because of the ease, high quality, and direct connection to the internet. You will be able to create live episodes of whatever you wish on the fly, in HD, from a phone. Simply amazing.
I’m still not done. The Mic… Most phones come with one microphone. The iPhone 4 comes with 2 built in mics for added audio quality to pair with your HD video. This combination is going to become a great competitor to digital cameras and video camera like the Flip HD.

iMovie Video Editing
Not only can you shoot video, but you can edit it with Apples iMovie software. This gives individuals shooting video the ability to edit it before getting it onto the web, RIGHT FROM THE PHONE. Now I’m guessing this will not be any kind of major editing jobs in any fashion, but just having the ability to do the basics is amazing. Again, this is an added reason why we will see an increase of videos from the iPhone straight into the social media world.
