What is the reason to tag a photo?
The reason for simply tagging a photo or having your fans tag photos of themselves and friends is a very useful thing to do. At least when you look at it from a business standpoint it is. This all boils down to becoming “viral”.
When you add a picture and tag someone in it, that person gets notified as well as the image going into their newsfeed. But, not only does it go into their newsfeed, it also goes into all of their friends feed. The picture ALSO goes into that persons photos on their own personal profile. So you see, the simple tagging of one photo is spread around many different places.
So if you tag someone, you are giving the ability for many others who you are not connected to you, to see that picture and see who tagged them in it. When they view the picture, they are actually going to be viewing your photo album.
For example, if you were a photography company and you started tagging models, all of the friends of the models would see who took those pictures, and those pictures would be on YOUR companies fan page. If they are models themselves, you may be able to pull them in for future shoots or attract someone needing photography done. Finally, if they like what they see, they too may become a fan of your page if they are interested.
Picture tagging is just another way to get your content spread around Facebook for many people to see.
But don’t forget that other websites allow you to tag photos as well. You can even tag photos with geolocations which may help you in different areas of search.
